Obituary of Charles Lawton, Sr.
Charles Agustus Lawton Sr. died Saturday June 24, 2017 in Hammonton Care Center in Hammonton, NJ at the age of 73 years old. Born in Elm, NJ to the late Mr.and Mrs. Ernest Asby Lawton Sr. and Julia Clarabelle Easley Lawton on June 25, 1943 he was the youngest of ten (10) children. He had a lengthy illness of heart, kidney and diabetes. Parents and family located to Rt. 30 Gatto Rd. Hammonton, NJ September 1946 a native for 71 years. He was a Mechanical Engineer and a Barber 46 years at Bryants Barbershop in Lawnside NJ. He loved fixing cars, trucks, trackers, cutting hair, worked and on the farm. He went to church with his parents and family, at First Union Baptist Church in Newtonville, NJ Pastor Rev. Alexander Robinson. Later Charles and 5 siblings joined the church and were baptized together on 7- 12-1951. He attended Hammonton High School and finished tenth grade. He had a love for family and many people and became well known. He leaves to mourn one brother Ernest A. Lawton Jr. of Philadelphia, PA, two sisters Rev. Dr. Lillie E. Lawton Travis of Winston Salem, NC and Viella Lawton Durham, Philadelphia, PA. Three sons Charles A. Lawton Jr., Aaron W. Lawton and Javon Charles Lawton, several grandchildren including Titus Lawton, a host of nephews and nieces, great, great great and great great great, relatives and friends.
