Pasquale 'Charlie' Giacobbe

Pasquale (Charlie) Giacobbe passed away Saturday, January 16, 2021 at age 86 at Hackensack Meridian Hospital in Hackensack, NJ where he had been residing with his daughter Anne Giacobbe.
He was the beloved husband of the late Elizabeth "Betty" Giacobbe née Pizzonia. He was the son of the late Angelo Jacobs and Anna Fanelli Jacobs of Hammonton, NJ. He is predeceased by his brother, John Angelo Jacobs, and sister, Marie Jacobs. Pasquale is survived by his children Theresa Giacobbe-Grieco and husband Stephen, Michael Giacobbe and partner Ann Kelleher, Frank Giacobbe and wife Suzanne, Christopher Giacobbe, James Giacobbe and wife Allison, John Giacobbe and wife Susan, and Anne V. Giacobbe. He will be dearly missed by his 12 devoted grandchildren: James Giacobbe, Stephanie Johnson, Tara Grieco-Glascott, Ariel Giacobbe, Elissa Grieco-Vetri, Elijah Giacobbe, Justin Giacobbe, Marie Giacobbe, Aurora Giacobbe, Charlie Giacobbe, Grace Giacobbe and Autumn Giacobbe. He was also beloved by brother/sister-in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, and godchildren.
Pasquale was born in Hammonton, NJ, later moving to Florida and graduating from Miami Jackson High School. He attended Florida State University (FSU) on a football scholarship, graduated in 1956 with a B.S. in Social Welfare, and was a member of the Cardinal Newman Society. He later attended graduate school at Fordham University in The Bronx. He was married to Betty in the Parish of St. Mary of Magdalene in Queens, NY and they celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary in 2014. Pasquale had an intimate relationship with God and the Catholic Church was always a guiding presence in his life. He was an eucharistic minister, usher, and devoted member of the St. Patrick's Parish in Highland Mills, NY. In addition, he was a member of The Holy Name Society, Rosary Altar Society, and Knights of Columbus wherever he lived. He was also a member of the Dante Club of Fresno, Italian American Society, and Woodbury Field & Stream Club. He was a Boy Scout Pack Leader as well as a Little League and Pop Warner Football Coach. For most of his adult life, Pasquale worked for the State of New York in the Division of Parole and several special task forces. He became a member of the "Second Chance Club" after surviving being shot on duty in 1982. As a reflection of the dedication to his family, he often worked three jobs. His lifetime passions and hobbies included everything Florida State Football; he was a member of the Treasure Coast Seminole Club and a part of every home he had always resembled a booster club office! He was the proud self-published author of Welcome Home Old Noles: Why I'm Proud to be a FSU Nugent Boy. He loved to be outside and appreciated every rock and tree in the natural world around him. He spent his youth working at his parents' farm stand in Hammonton and never lost his passion for gardening and horticulture. He was an avid sportsman, bred English Springer Spaniels and lived for hunting season. He loved to read and would consume two to three books a week, recently enjoying FSU's Sons of the Sixties by Crowe and McCullers. In retirement, Pasquale and Betty enjoyed living near their children and grandchildren in Fresno, CA as well as Kings Park, NY, and most recently Pasquale resided in Stuart, FL and East Rutherford, NJ. He will live on in the hearts of his family and friends who loved him.
Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, there will be a private family mass. A memorial service will be held for friends and family in Hammonton, NJ later on in the Spring or Summer. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Pasquale's name to St. Patrick's R.C. Church in Highland Mills NY, St. Joseph Church in Hammonton NJ, or a charity of your choice.
