Alfred Macciocca, Jr.

August 31, 1933 — January 10, 2025

Alfred J. Macciocca, Jr. age 91 of Mays Landing, NJ and formerly of Hammonton, NJ passed away peacefully at his home on Friday January 10, 2025.

He was born in Philadelphia, Pa on August 31, 1933. He was raised in Elm. He went to Lower Camden County HS but quit before graduating to join the US Army where he served from 1953-1955. He returned to South Jersey and worked alongside his father, Alfred Sr. learning the trade of bricklaying - something he would perfect for the rest of his life. He worked for Contarino Brothers for over 46 years. He was a proud member of the International Union of Bricklayers/Tile setters/Stone Masons. He was a Master Craftsman who was always there to lend a helping hand to others. He continued to do smaller brick, tile and stone jobs well into his 80s.

He met his wife Anita while on a job on Orchard Street in Hammonton. They were married in October 1955 at St Joseph's Church. He built their house on North street in Hammonton where they lived for most of their 62 years of marriage.

Together Al and Anita were owners/operators of the Glen Nor Hotel in Ocean City, NJ from 1978-1986. Then they owned Cream & Co ice cream shop in Stone Harbor for a few years. For many years they looked forward to winters in Florida. Al and Anita dedicated many years of service and devotion to St. Joseph Church.

Al had a life long love of Thoroughbred Race horses. In the 1970s he was part owner of several horses- but his real love was watching them run. He was known to place a bet or two.

He enjoyed driving Cadillac cars and owned 12 new Caddys over the years.

He is predeceased by his loving wife Anita R. Macciocca (nee Vitale) and his three sisters Gilda Cipolla, Gloria and Joann Macciocca.

Al is survived by his sister Phyllis Buchanan, niece Debbie Conaway his nephew Steven R. Morgan and his wife Susan, and his girlfriend Brenda. He will be sadly missed by many great nieces and nephews as well as great-great nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Graveside Service 11:00am on Thursday January 16, 2025 at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 248 S. First Rd. Hammonton, NJ.
