Catherine Marie Cranwell

Catherine Marie, ( nee Wynne ), age 88 of Tabernacle, NJ passed away peacefully at home on November 14, 2015 with her family by her side.
Born April 9, 1927 to Thomas Wynne and Margaret (Crowley) in Brooklyn, New York, Catherine was first-generation Irish and the oldest of four children. She attended St. Francis of Assisi Grammar School and Girls Commercial High School. Upon graduation, she went to work for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company and it was there that she met and married her husband, John E. Cranwell of Union City, NJ. Together they lived in Union City, NJ and raised three children, Michael, Brendan and Catherine. She returned to Met Life when her children were grown and in 1988 she retired, holding the title of Word Processing Supervisor. Catherine moved several times to be with her daughter and son-in-law and their children. Over the years she resided in Bayonne, NJ, Hazlet, NJ, Slidell, LA and then returned to NJ in 1998 residing with the family in Tabernacle. She was predeceased by her husband, John E. Cranwell, brother Thomas Wynne and sister Ann Fettinger. She will be remembered by her children, Michael T. Cranwell (Imma) of Howell, NJ, Brendan Cranwell (Grace) of River Edge, NJ and Catherine Gasiewski (Gregory Sr.) of Tabernacle, NJ, for her love and service to her family, her kind and giving nature and her strong faith. She loved and was loved by her six grandchildren, Tara Hauk, Michele Gasiewski, Gregory Gasiewski, Jr., Kerry Echavarria, Caitlin Altobelli and Laura Cranwell, and four great grandchildren, Kyle, Luke, Sade and Gage. Catherine will be lovingly remembered by her younger sister, Theresa Wynne, of Sun City Center, FL and her many nieces and nephews who live across the United States. Family and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial Friday 11:00am from St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish - St. Joseph Church 3rd & French Streets Hammonton, NJ. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Arrangements entrusted to the Marinella Funeral Home 102 N. 3rd St, Hammonton, NJ. Donations in memory of Catherine Marie Cranwell for the restoration of her childhood parish church, may be mailed to: St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church 319 Maple Street Brooklyn, NY 11225.
