Catherine Tomasso

Catherine Tomasso (nee Machise) age 87 of Hammonton, NJ passed away Weds., March 30, 2011 at her residence. Born in Hammonton, she was a lifelong resident. Catherine worked for Newell Clothing Company in Vineland, National Garment of Hammonton and later became the head cook at Hammonton Schools retiring in the mid 1980's . After Catherine's retirement she continued to keep busy with various part-time jobs and her gardening. Catherine was a past president of the Altar Rosaty Society of St. Martin de Porres Church and an avid member of the new Senior Center at the Hammonton Canoe Club, member of the Red Hat Society " Red Hot Jersey Girls" and regularly got together with her friends to play pinochle. Catherine is predeceased by her husband Fred, her parents Frank and Angelina Machise, her brother Joseph Machise and her sisters Josephine Tomasso and Janet Machise. Surviving are her daughter Vivian Morrissey and her husband Michael of Hammonton, and her son Louis Tomasso and his wife Maureen of Attleboro, MA. Dear sister of Anthony Machise of Vineland, Anna Fotia of Linden, and Angelina Farina ( Faustin ) of Vineland. Loving grandmother of Kevin and Jaclyn Tomasso. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing Monday 9:00am - 11:00am at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish-St. Martin de Porres Church S., Egg Harbor Rd. and Park Ave., Hammonton. Mass of Christian Burial 11:00am at the Church.. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery White Horse Pike, Hammonton, NJ. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Town of Hammonton c/o Senior Center " Canoe Club" 100 Central Ave. Hammonton, NJ 08037.
