Charles J. Berenato

Charles J. Berenato, Sr., age 87, of Hammonton, passed away Wed. January 2, 2013 at Virtua Hospital, Berlin. Charles was born in Hammonton and a lifelong resident. Charles was a graduate of Hammonton High School Class of 1943. He proudly served in the 78th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army during World War II. After the war Charles played semi-pro football for the Hammonton Bakers and Hammonton Peaches. Charles was a member of St. Joseph High School Booster Club. He was the owner and founder of Berenato & Chioffi Inc. He is predeceased by his wife Rita (nee Maimone), his son, Bruce J. and his sister Catherine Cushinotto. Devoted father of Charles J. Berenato, Jr. and his wife Dawn and Charlotte Corgliano and her husband Robert all of Hammonton. Loving grandfather of Bobby (September) Corgliano, Kristin (Michael) Pistone, Lindsay(fiancé PJ Cassario) Corgliano, Deanna and Chas Berenato, great-grandfather of Bobby and Alana Corgliano and Michael Pistone. Brother of Joseph (Mary) Berenato and Domenic (Vee) Berenato, brother in law of Sam Maimone and Josephine Camorata and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Mon. 6:00pm-9:00pm and Tuesday morning after 9:00am at Marinella Funeral Home, 102 N. Third Street, Hammonton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday 11:00 am at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish - St. Joseph Church, 226 French Street, Hammonton. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
