Milligan , Charlotte (Bancheri) Ph.D, - 80, of Salt Lake City, Utah and La Quinta, California, whose extensive collection and paintings of roosters graced her Salt Lake City home, died peacefully at her home in La Quinta on June 21, 2017, the year of the rooster, from pancreatic cancer. Charlotte was able to spend her last days with her family, especially her long-awaited three-month old grandson, Grant Douglas, who spent his waking hours with lovely visits with his Nonna. The daughter of Charles and Mary Continisio Bancheri, Dr. Milligan was born and raised in Hammonton, New Jersey. She attended the Shipley School, Bryn Mawr, PA and Connecticut College, New London, CT. In 1975, she married Bert Milligan, who survives her. They resided with their family for many years in Ocean City, New Jersey where they ran Chic's Decorators, Bert Milligan's family business. In 1993, Dr. Milligan received her Ph.D in psycho-educational processes from Temple University, Philadelphia, PA with her proud family looking on. Dr. Milligan's dissertation was a study of blended families, a subject about which she had a first hand knowledge, as both she and Bert Milligan had two sons from their first marriages. Avid skiers, Charlotte and her husband began spending their winters at Snowbird in Utah in the early 1980's and moved to Salt Lake City in 2002. After her move to Utah, Charlotte took up painting, a pursuit which gave her great pleasure. She and Bert Milligan also took up golf, prompting their move to The Citrus Club in La Quinta in the winter months. Charlotte was an active 9-holer and bridge player at Citrus and Hidden Valley Country Club in Salt Lake. Charlotte was notable for her long-lasting friendships and the love expressed for her by her many cousins. Their frequent calls and letters were a source of comfort to her as her illness progressed. Until recently, Charlotte traveled regularly with her three best friends from kindergarten. In addition to her husband, Dr. Milligan is survived by two sons and their families, Graham Douglas and Lise Dumont of Brisbane, CA, and Geoffrey, Anne and Grant Douglas of Oak Park, Illinois; two stepsons and their families, Charles and Betka Milligan and their children of Cambridge, England and James Milligan and his children of Salt Lake City and New Orleans, LA; her sister, Christine Bancheri of Beef Island, British Virgin Islands and Ipswich, MA and family; an older sister, Frances Bancheri, predeceased her in childhood. Memorial services for Dr. Milligan were held Saturday July 29, 2017 at The Presbyterian Church of Hammonton. Her family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations in her memory be made to the donor's charity of choice. Arrangements entrusted to Marinella Funeral Home.
