Dessalena "Dessie" Matassa ( nee Piason ) age 89 of Hammonton passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Heritage Assisted Living in Hammonton.
Dessie was born in Winslow, NJ and also lived in Absecon, NJ for many years.
She worked for A & P Market in Hammonton for over 30 years as a bookkeeper.
Dessie is predeceased by her husbands, Louis Matassa and Louis DeFeo, parents James and Raffaela Piason, brothers Carmen and Frank Piason, sisters Clara Maffei, Catherine Maffei, Madeline Piscatelli and Josephine Lacovarra. Surviving are her daughter Kathryn and her husband Michael C. Macrie of Rosedale, NJ. Three sisters, Antoinette Christopher of Rosedale, NJ, Dolores Munson of Stratford, NJ and Sylvia Olivo of Hammonton, NJ.Sister in law Lucy Piason of Winslow. Loving grandmother of Michael W. Macrie and his wife Jessica and Kristen Reed and her husband Travis. Great Grandmother of Bennett Webster Macrie, Lila Chase Macrie, Emmalena Kathryn Reed and Travis John Reed, Jr.. She will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Family and friends are invited to attend her viewing Monday from 9:00am - 1045am at the Marinella Funeral Home 102 N. 3rd St. Hammonton, NJ. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00am St. Mary of Mt. Carmel parish - St. Joseph Church 3rd & French Streets Hammonton, NJ. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery 124 S. First Rd.
