Dr. Engracio Celis Balita age 91 of Hammonton, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones on May 15th, 2016. Engracio was born in the Philippines, graduated from the University of Santo Tomas Medical School in Manila, and came to the United States in 1954. Eny did his medical residencies in Prospects Heights, Midwood and Caledonia Hospitals in New York. He maintained a private practice for 30 years in Hammonton, worked in clinical and administrative positions at Ancora State Hospital where he became Medical Director. He was Consulting Psychiatrist at Kessler Memorial Hospital and at several nursing homes and health care facilities. He was also Staff Psychiatrist at the Cumberland Guidance Center. Eny was a naturalized citizen who deeply loved America. He had a life long passion for music and was an accomplished pianist. He also enjoyed chess, electronics and debating politics. Loving husband of 59 years to Virginia (Belek). Beloved son of the late Judge Engracio Sr. and Rosario Balita. Devoted father to Susan Fox (Joseph) and Catherine Balita (Daniel Bencivenga). Cherished grandfather of Joseph, Kevin (Devin), Kelli, Thomas, Gabrielle and Nina. Survived by sister Rosario Carag. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a visitation on Friday May 20, 2016, 11am at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parrish at St. Joseph Church, Third and French St. Hammonton, NJ 08037. A Mass will immediately follow at 12:30pm. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Donations in Engracio's name may be sent to AtlantiCare Hospice at PO Box 1626, Pleasantville, NJ 08232
