George K. Lalka

George K. Lalka, age 63 of Pennsauken, NJ, and formerly of Hammonton, NJ, died Monday, November 21, 2011, at J.F. Kennedy Hospital in Cherry Hill, NJ. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was a Chemist for DuPont in Delaware. He received his BS from Seton Hall in Chemistry in 1969 and his MS in Organic Chemistry from Yale University in 1971. George loved to read and deeply appreciated the arts: he loved photography and horseback riding. George's intelligence was apparent with his patent, Red Sensitive Photopolymerizable Compositions. In his later years he found a new love, Joyful Noise. Joyful Noise is a chorus of adults with physical and neurological challenges who live in southern New Jersey. As a core member, George was a frequent soloist. George performed with the chorus at regional and national professional music conferences, the Riversharks, Discovery Museum, just to name a few. Joyful Noise was instrumental in his speech as it supported the Melodic Intonation Therapy which he received from Dr. Concetta Tomaino of the Institute for Music and Neurologic Function and the Beth Abraham Family of Health Services in New York. Music therapy was a vital part of George's life. Keep the music playing. Predeceased by his mother Anna Lalka. Surviving are his father Stephen J. Lalka of Elm, NJ, his brothers: Stephen F. Lalka and his wife, Carol of Birmingham, MI and Dr. Joseph P. Lalka and his wife, Terry Ribadeneyra of Chatham, NY, and sisters: Victoria Tauer and her husband Charles of Blaine, MN, and Nancy Longo and her husband, Jeff, of Hammonton, NJ. Loving uncle of many nieces and nephews. Friends and relatives are invited to attend his viewing Saturday from 9:00am to11:00am at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish St. Joseph Church, 3rd & French Streets Hammonton, NJ. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00am. Burial in Holy Sepulcher Cemetery 124 S. First Rd. Hammonton, NJ. Arrangements entrusted to the Marinella Funeral Home 102 N. 3rd St. Hammonton, NJ.
