Giuseppe 'Joseph' Lamazza

Giuseppe "Joseph" LaMazza age 80 of Hammonton passed away on the evening of August 13th.Joe was born on February 18th 1932 in Messina, Sicily in Italy and immigrated to the United States in 1960. He was married on April 11th 1962. His patron saint was St. Michael the Archangel. A machinist by trade, he was a member of the Local 172 General Laborers Heavy Construction Union, The St. John the Baptist Society and the Hammonton Lodge #123 Italian Sons and Daughters. He was employed with The Atlantic City Race Course for over 30 years. Giuseppe is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years; Salvatora LaMazza, daughter; Toni Ravelli, Son-in-Law; Eric Ravelli, daughter; Rosemarie Lewis, son: Joseph LaMazza, daughter-in-law Cheryl LaMazza, grandchildren, Gabrielle Ravelli, Tyler Ravelli, Bergen Lewis, Zane Lewis and Mia LaMazza, his sisters; Josephine Franchina-LaMazza and Flavia Repice-LaMazza and his brothers; John LaMazza and Cosmo LaMazza. He is pre-deceased by his parents Gaetano and Antonietta LaMazza and Brothers Antonio LaMazza and Mario LaMazza. He was a husband, a father, a hero and a jack-of-all trades. At a little more than 5 feet tall, Giuseppe LaMazza was larger than life. One never needed to wonder what he was thinking because he would tell you directly. Never afraid of an honest day's work, he was proud of his family and his home. When it came to character and integrity he taught by example and walked the walk. He was fond of saying "It is far better to live one day as a lion, than all my days as a lamb." Giuseppe LaMazza lived all his days as a lion. Gone, but never forgotten. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Saturday August 18 from 8:00 am to 9:30am at the Marinella Funeral Home 102 N. 3rd St. Hammonton, NJ.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish St. Joseph Church 3rd and French St. Hammonton, NJ. Entombment will be at Greenmount Cemetery 124 S. 1st Rd. Hammonton, NJ. Donations may be made to Alanticare Hospice PO Box 1626 Pleasantville, NJ 08232 or St. Vincent de Paul Society 226 French St. Hammonton, NJ 08037.
