Herman W. Priestley Jr., age 98 of Hammonton NJ, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2018 at Virtua Hospital in Voorhees, NJ. He was born and raised in Elm, NJ and graduated from Hammonton High School in 1940. Herman was an army veteran of World War II. He served in Europe as a supply sergeant with the 278th Engineer Combat Battalion. Following his military service, Herman and his wife Lorraine (Brown) resided in Stratford, NJ where they raised their family. Herman was employed by Philadelphia Electric Company where he worked in the financial department and retired in 1988. In his later years Herman moved to Hammonton where he enjoyed spending time with his family and reconnecting with high school classmates and meeting new friends. He was predeceased by his parents Herman and Sadie Priestley, beloved wife Lorraine of 51 years, brother David Albert Priestley, and his loving companion of 14 years, Mary Kryvoruka. He was a loving and devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather and is survived by his daughter Peggy Rizzotte (John), son Robert Priestley (Debra), grandchildren Kevin Rizzotte (Erin), Matthew Rizzotte, Stephanie Burchett (Drew), Christa Priestley (David), Andrea Birchler, and great grandchildren Grayson Rizzotte, Layne and Wieland Burchett, Emma and Beau Priestley, Max and Judah Birchler. Family and friends are invited to attend his church viewing on Monday November 12, 2018 from 9:00-11:00am at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish-St. Anthony's Church 285 Route 206 in Hammonton, NJ. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery,500 N. White Horse Pike Hammonton, NJ. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN 38105, St Vincent de Paul Food Pantry, 226 French St Hammonton, NJ 08037, or to a charity of choice.
