James T. McAviney Sr., 89, of Hammonton died Sunday, May 3, 2009 at his residence.
Born in Philadelphia, Pa. in 1920, he graduated from Holy Spirit High School in Atlantic City in 1938.
Jim served in World Was II as a master sergeant for his squadron in the Air Force.
He was a resident of Hammonton for more than 50 years. He retired as a signalman from the Pennsylvania Reading Seashore Lines.
He also worked for Empire Savings and Loan Bank and the Atlantic County Court House in Mays Landing.
Jim was an avid sports fan. When his children were young, he was a coach for the Hammonton Baseball Little League.
Jim was predeceased by his wife, Claire. Surviving children are: James, Jr. of Hammonton, Donald and his wife Alberta of Wallingford, Pa., Barbara Conklin and her husband Daniel of Marlton, Marilyn DeMaria and her husband Harry of Seaville, loving grandchildren: Lauren, Lindsay, Matthew, Corinne, Christin, and Andrew.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Weds. eve after 6:30pmat the Marinella Funeral Home 102 N. Third St. Hammonton. Mass of Christian Burial Thursday 10:00am at St. Joseph Church Third & French Sts. Hammonton. Burial in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
