Joan C. (nee Potter), age 79, a lifelong resident of Elwood, NJ passed away at home on December 1, 2015. She was called home to be with the Lord after a prolonged illness surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased in death by her husband Vernon (Pielo) Romeo, brother James Potter, sister Ann LaPorte (Potter), and sons Vincent and James Romeo. She is survived by her children Karen Nelson (Gary), Lisa Romeo, Catherine Bassaner (Raymond), and Amy Romeo Shaw. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren who were the light of her life, her many nieces and nephews, and her sister-in-law Michi Potter. First and foremost she was a homemaker. Large family gatherings always took place in her home. She devoted many years as a home health aide. She was a strong and independent woman and will be sadly missed. All relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing Friday from 9:00am - 11:00am at Marinella Funeral Home 102 N 3rd St Hammonton, NJ. Services will be held at the funeral home at 11:00am. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery 500 N. White Horse Pike, Hammonton, NJ. A special thank you to Journey Hospice for making her "journey home" peaceful and allowing it possible to be at home with her family as she wished.
