Joan Mary Lucas Morsa

Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Joan Mary Lucas Morsa age 87 of Hammonton, NJ passed away Friday February 14, 2025.

She was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA and moved to Hammonton with her family in 1973.

Joan entered the workforce at a young age to help support her family. She was employed by Jefferson Hospital and later Bell Telephone Company. She left the workforce when her first child Joni was born and remained a stay at home mom until she moved to Hammonton.

In the town of Hammonton, Joan would go to take on many roles doing what she felt called to do: helping others. She was a playground, cafeteria, and then classroom aid in the Hammonton school system as well as a crossing guard for the town of Hammonton. After her children grew up, Joan became certified as a CNA and later a Medical Technician at Greenbriar nursing home and the Heritage Assisted Living where she proudly worked into her late 70's. She was also a private home health care worker for decades for many people in the town of Hammonton.

Joan knew and loved God since she was a little girl. Her faith led her to be active in the church for many years, including positions of lector, eucharistic minister, and Sunday school teacher for over 30 years. She loved helping and teaching children, including her Grandson, Luke River who followed her calling and was a child lector under Joan's loving guidance.

She is predeceased by her parents Andrew and Mary Lucas, many Aunts, Uncles, and Friends, and her many dogs.

Joan is survived by her daughter, Joan L. Morsa, her son Louis A. Morsa (Sharon), her grandchildren Luke River Morsa (and his girlfriend Elizabeth Higgins) and Maria Morsa, her sister Lorraine Kilchesky, Goddaughter and Niece Karen Wilhelm, her brother Richard Lucas (Maryann), her good family friend Roxanne Derenzis, and Phoebe the family dog. She is also survived by brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Celebration of Life Wednesday February 26, 2025, from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at the Marinella Funeral Home 102 N. Third St. Hammonton, NJ 08037. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 7:00pm. Cremation will be held private under the care of the Marinella Funeral Home.
