AMOS,
John A. "Gus". age 87 of Collings Lakes, NJ passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday February 11, 2016 at AtlantiCare Medical Center in Pomona, NJ. Raised in Mantua, NJ, he resided in Collings Lakes for nearly 60 years. Gus served in the U.S. Navy during both WWII and the Korean War. After service he started Amos Paving Company, Rail Repairs and Rentals and retired from Amos, Inc. He was a member of the Hammonton American Legion F.A. Funston Post # 186.
Gus was a true family man. Nothing put a smile on his face more than sharing good times and fond memories with family and friends. Gus was an avid sports fan and you could always find him in the stands cheering for his 3 boys and his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew him. He is predeceased by his mother Henrietta( nee Reed) and Harry Amos, brothers Howard "Duke" and Blanche Sharpless, Sister-in-law Dorothy Amos, David and Darlene Amos and Robert Amos Surviving are his wife, Pearl ( nee Finocchi ) and 3 Sons, Gus and his wife Linda of Smithville, NJ, Rick and his wife Lori of Hammonton, NJ and Dale and his wife Erin of Washington Twp, NJ. 1 brother Harry Amos of Pitman, NJ and sister-in-law Rosemary Amos of Mantua, NJ. Loving grandfather of Rick, Jr. ( Shaina ), Nick, Dylan, Jessica and Drew. Great grandfather of Rocco, Brady and Mack. Family and friends are invited to attend his viewing Monday from 9:00am - 11:00am at the Marinella Funeral Home 102 N. 3rd St. Hammonton, NJ with services at 11:00am. Burial will be in Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery 240 S. Tuckahoe Rd. Williamstown, NJ. Donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project P.O. Box 758517.
