John J. Caruso, age 81, of Hammonton, NJ passed away Wednesday, March 17th, 2021.
John was born in Hammonton and was a life-long resident. He was owner operator of the family farm, Caruso Farms. Based on his life-long hobby of hand lettering signs, he was also later employed at Bally's Entertainment in Atlantic City until his retirement in 2004. He served in the New Jersey Army-Air National Guard. He was active in the farming community serving on the Cape-Atlantic Soil Conservation District Board, The New Jersey Farm Bureau and the Atlantic County Board of Agriculture, where he served as President. He was also a parishioner in Saint Anthony's of Padua Church in Hammonton, serving as an usher and as a volunteer in the annual Feast of Saint Anthony Chicken Barbecue staff. In the latter, he was well remembered for his funnel cake stand.
John was predeceased by his parents John and Helen Caruso (nee Montalto) as well as his two brothers Joseph (Pauline) and Charles (Alice). He is survived by his two sons, John Caruso, MD (Antonia) of Haddonfield, NJ and Christopher Caruso (Kelly) of Hammonton, NJ, and the mother of his children, Emma Caruso. He was a loving grandfather to Christopher Caruso II, Kelsey Caruso, and John William Caruso II. He will also be greatly missed by his dear friends in "The Breakfast Gang". Family and friends are invited to attend his visitation Saturday, April 10th 2021 from 11:00-1:00pm at the Marinella Funeral Home 102 N.
