John Stanley Kranyak, 82 - of Hammonton, NJ born May 7, 1931 in Chester, PA, died May 11, 2013. He died peacefully, surrounded by his children.
He is survived by his loving and devoted children, Rosemary Kranyak King (Scott), of Minnetonka Beach, MN, Karen Hallahan Kranyak of Brigantine, NJ, and John Thomas Kranyak (Kirsten) of Naples, FL; adoring grandsons Michael King, David King, and Sebastian Brent Kranyak; sisters Joan Krantz (Ronald), Ithaca, NY, Bernadette Garro (Fred), Upper Chichester, PA, and brother Joseph Kranyak of Elizabethtown, PA.
Mr. Kranyak was preceded in death by his loving wife of 44 years, Rosemary Jones Kranyak, parents John and Veronica Kranyak, brother Joziu Kranyak, and sister Judy Hubaj.
Raised in Chester, PA, John was a 1949 graduate of St. James Catholic High School, Eddystone, PA, and a 1953 graduate of Pennsylvania Military College. After serving as First Lieutenant in the US Army Chemical Corps (honorable discharge, 1961), Mr. Kranyak obtained his graduate Physical Therapy degree at Northwestern University (Chicago) as a member of their first graduating class of physical therapists in 1957.
John's 52 year career as a skilled, compassionate Physical Therapist began as a staff Physical Therapist at Fitzgerald Mercy Hospital (Darby, PA). From there, he served as Chief Physical Therapist at Camden County Hospital. He then established himself at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital as a co-founder and Chief Physical Therapist of their first Physical Therapy/Rehab Department. In 1964, at the suggestion of one of his patients, John and his bride relocated to Hammonton, NJ, where he founded and established the Physical Therapy Department at Kessler Hospital, and was Chief Therapist there for 10 years. Following that, Mr. Kranyak established a successful private practice in Hammonton- lovingly caring for his patients for 44 years.
As a Physical Therapist, John always had time for his patients, and the community. "Doc Kranyak's" doors were always open and he never refused anyone the care that they needed. For almost 30 years, John lent his services to both St. Joseph and Hammonton High Schools with a mission to keep all of their athletes healthy and ready to play their next game.
Family was John's highest priority, and nothing gave him greater joy than to be with his wife, children and grandchildren. Many beautiful family memories were made at John and Rosemary's cherished family summer home in Brigantine, NJ. John could often be found walking on the sea wall or on the beach, flying a kite - something he lovingly shared with his children and grandchildren.
John made time for everyone. His presence on earth was marked by kindness, humor and love. He livened up the room just by being there. He was a consummate caregiver and encourager. He had a selfless giving spirit, and he refused to see anyone in need without helping in some way. Living his life with the utmost respect for all, John leaves a legacy of love, service and dedication to his family, friends, and community. He will be deeply missed by his loving family and all who knew him.
A devout Roman Catholic who began serving the church as an altar boy, John lived a faithful life and was dedicated to the Rosary.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to your favorite charity in John S. Kranyak's name.
