Joseph F. Umosella, Jr. age 72 of Hammonton and Ft. Lauderdale, FL passed away Monday February 18, 2013 in Ft. Lauderdale. Joe was born in Woodbury and a Hammonton resident. He was a graduate of Overbrook High School Class of 1959 and Delaware Valley College 1963. Joe enjoyed a long and successful career in the businesses he founded, Universal Supply Company in 1965, Patriot Manufacturing in 1979 and Soluna Yacht Company in 2006 where he employed over 1,000 people. He lived by the golden rule to treat others as you would like to be treated. He was a member of Mullica Twp. School Board, Kessler Hospital Foundation Board, Kiwanis Club of Hammonton and Offshore Powerboat Assoc. Joe was involved in many charities including Delaware Valley College Alumni, St. Joseph High School, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, ALS, Hammonton Youth Assoc., Republican Party and various medical institutions. Joe's generosity and kind spirit was recognized by Hammonton Chamber of Commerce "Industry of the Year" Universal Supply Co., Hammonton Chamber of Commerce "Nice Going Award", New Jersey Lumberman's "Man of the Year". In honor of Joe's dedication to Delaware Valley College. The college is building "The Joseph Umosella Atrium."
Joe is predeceased by his parents Joseph F. Umosella, Sr and Isabel Umosella, sister
Sharon Caprio and brother in law Ronald DeNafo.
Surviving are his children, Joseph F. Umosella, III (Gin-Ann), John Umosella (Kristina), Jeff Umosella (Jeanene) and Shelia Presti (Robert), wife Carol (nee DeSilvio). Brother Mark Umosella and his wife Kathi, Sister Janice DeNafo and Brother in Law Gerard Caprio. Longtime companion Nancy Giordano and her children Robert (Jennifer) and Lisa. Loving grandfather of Angela, Nicole, Desiree, Bobby, Amanda, Dominic,Gabrielle, Danielle, Joanna, Samantha, Gina, Joey, Jeffrey, Jason, Julia, Robert Jr. and Gianna. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Joe was an avid boater enjoyed fine foods, watching Fox News, but most of all vacationing with his family and grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Sunday Eve 5:00-9:00pm and Monday 9:00-11:00am at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish - St. Joseph Church 3rd & French Sts Hammonton. Mass of Christian Burial Monday 11:00 am. Entombment will be in Greenmount Cemetery 124 S. First Road Hammonton. Arrangements entrusted to the Marinella Funeral Home 102 N. 3rd St. Hammonton.
