Kelly was well respected & voted employee of month many times. Unfortunately, vacationing in Las Vegas, a catastrophic car accident occurred and left her paralyzed. She was airlifted to Jefferson Hospital and in NICU and ICU for 3 months. With the help and support of family, friends, Fr. Joseph Mungari, doctors and caring concerned nurses, she was helped through a terrible frightening and painful ordeal. Kelly was transferred to Magee Rehabilation Hospital for physical and occupational therapy for 6 months, before returning home. She endured many ups and downs, respiratory distress, and had her share of suffering with unbearable pain, always with a positive outlook and hopes that there may be a cure for spinal cord injuries. She attended Atlantic Community College for computer programming, where she was on the Dean's List. She sufffered health setback and had to end her courses temporarily, overcame many obstacles through determination and faith. She was honored to meet several time with Marie Esperanza, spiritual visionary from Caracas, Venezuela, who experienced stigmata and birth of roses. Maria prayed with Kelly and gave her a sacred rose petal that fell from the heavens above while experiencing the crucifixion stigmata. Kelly experienced a spiritual uplifting and some pain free nights when praying to and with Maria. Maria prayed to her guardian angel to look over Kelly when needed. She always smelled the scent of roses when she felt a spiritual presence near her. She was also enrolled as a spiritual child of Padro Pio.
