Mary Margaret Rosso

Mary Margaret Rosso (nee Cayer) age 85 of Hammonton, NJ passed away peacefully on February 1, 2023. 

Mary grew up in Baltimore, MD, the second child of Joseph A. and Margaret I. Cayer. In 1957 she married Frank J. Rosso, and their move to Anne Arundel County, MD set her on the path of environmental activism, with neighbors and friends meeting frequently at her home to plan actions for clean water and safe waste disposal. She and her friends took on corporations like BFI and city of Baltimore. She served as environmental aide to State Senator Gerald Winegrad, and was elected to the Maryland House of Delegates on Jan. 13, 1999. https://msa.maryland.gov/msa/mdmanual/06hse/former/html/msa02785.html

Even more than her love for the environment, was her deep love for her family, especially her son Frank J. Rosso Jr., her sister, Jane Cayer, SSND, and her grandchildren: Matthew J. Hipkins, Dominic J. Rosso; Gianna, Aurora, Dante, and Maya Owen and Angelia Rosso. She was predeceased by her husband Frank J. Rosso Sr. and her brother Joseph M. Cayer.

She will also be remembered very fondly by her numerous friends and the health care workers who attended and extend her loving spirit into the world her. “Everyone loves Mary,” was a constant refrain from all whom she encountered.
