Mary S. Demarco

Mary Sebastian DeMarco, passed away surrounded by family on May 30, 2009 in Lancaster PA at age 82. Born in Lancaster, she graduated from Manheim Township High School in 1944. She attended Lancaster General Hospital School of Nursing before meeting and marrying Carmen C. DeMarco, of Hammonton NJ in 1948. She made Hammonton her home, raising her three children, Cheryl, Carmen (Chuckie) and Bruce.
After a stint at Whitehall Laboratories, she began work as a secretary for the Hammonton Board of Education. She retired in 1992, after working as personal secretary to three Superintendents of Schools. While working and raising her children, she also obtained an Associate Degree from Atlantic Community College. She was an avid reader, and traveled in the U.S. and Europe. Her favorite location of all is the family home in Italy, Monte San Biaggio, where she enjoyed two family visits. She was a founding member of Saint Anthony of Padua Church, where she prepared the church bulletin for many years, and served several terms on parish counsel. Mary loved to cook, was a gracious hostess and a loving mother and grandmother.
Mary is predeceased by her mother, Mary Lupia Sebastian, father, Joseph Sebastian, brother Charles Sebastian, son Carmen Charles (Chuckie) DeMarco and husband Carmen C. DeMarco. She leaves behind her children Cheryl DeMarco (Joseph Costantini) of Mays Landing NJ and Bruce DeMarco of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and granddaughters Amy DeCicco of Brooklyn NY and Judi DeCicco of Cambridge MA.
Also, sister Lucy (Bill) Pfautz of Lancaster Pa, Joseph (Donna) Sebastian of Lancaster and Monte San Biaggio, and sisters and brothers in law in Hammonton: Anthony (Mary) DeMarco, John (Anna) DeMarco, Gladys Tomasello, Rose (Anthony) Merlino, Bill Amedio, Minnie DeMarco and Stella Daniello, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, in both Hammonton and Lancaster, and many friends in Hammonton.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on June 6, 2009 at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 285 Route 206, Hammonton, New Jersey 08037. Visitation hours will be 7:00 to 9:00 PM on Friday, June 5, 2009 at Marinella Funeral Home 102 N. Third St. Hammonton and Saturday morning from 8:30 AM at Saint Anthony of Padua Church.
