Mildred C. Jacobs Ferrell, died on Dec. 27, 2010 at St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne, PA. She was a resident of Twining Village in Holland, PA and a former resident of Hammonton, NJ and a graduate of of Hammonton High School class of 1934. She was also a life member of the National Honor Society. She was an honors Graduate class of 1938 from Maryville College, Maryville, TN with a degree in Home Economics and Institutional Management. In 1939 Mrs. Ferrell completed a Graduate Internship in Dietetics at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Phila. PA.
Mrs. Ferrell's professional career as a Dietician began at the former Chalfonte-Haddon Hall in Atlantic City. She was employed for 31 years in hospitals and a school district. At the time of her retirement in 1980 she was employed as an Assistant Director of the Dietary Department at the Norristown State Hospital in Norristown, PA. As a Registred Dietician she was a member of the American Dietetic Association, the PA Dietetic Association and the Phila. Dietitic Association.
Mrs. Ferrell is survived by her son Jeffrey of Englewood, CO and his wife, a grandson and granddaughter. She is also survived by her cousin Mrs. Elizabeth Watt. Arrangements are entrusted to the Marinella Funeral Home 102 N. 3rd St. Hammonton, NJ. Interment was held on Fri. Dec. 31, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church Cemetery in Williamstown, NJ. Donations may be made in Mrs. Ferrell's name to the First Presbyterian Church of Hammonton 326 Bellevue Ave. Hammonton, NJ 08037. ( www.marinellafuneralhome.com)
