Nicholas B. LaGuardia Sr. age 75 of Hammonton, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at Kindred Hospital in Philadelphia. Born in Philadelphia, he was a Hammonton resident most of his life. Nick retired from Atlantic Electric as Superintendent of the Meter Readers with 37 years of service. He was a Gold Card member of the Sons of Italy Lodge #1658 in Hammonton. While serving in the U.S. Army at Fort Dix, NJ and overseas in Okinawa Nick was a member of the Post Baseball team. Upon completion of his military duty he returned home to play for the Hammonton Black Sox, one of the stronger independent Baseball teams in the area. Nick was a very successful Baseball and Softball Coach at all levels of the game; whether it was coaching his sons in Little League, the St Joseph's High School Baseball team to 4 consecutive class "C" championships from 1967-1971,or managing FVT Trucking Softball, who won the class "B" World Championship in 1984. With all of his coaching and athletic accomplishments, he was most proud of his family.
Nick is predeceased by his parents Bernard and Mary LaGuardia. Surviving are his wife of
"43 wonderful yrs" Florence (Caracciolo) his 2 sons Nicholas Jr.(Tanya) of Hammonton and Michael (Julie) of Sicklerville, and daughter Rebecca DiMartino (Eric) of Turnersville, His sister Anna DeMarco(John) of Nesco, five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
