Petronila Hernandez, age 79 of Hammonton, passed away Saturday September 29, 2012 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Camden. She was born in Salinas, Puerto Rico in 1933. Petronila worked in factories to provide for her children. She moved her family to Atlantic City, NJ where she first struggled to fund work. She later worked at Resorts International and was a dedicated employee, never late or called out. She worked at Resorts until her retirement. She dedicated herself to family and her church. She was a member of Alfa Omega Tabernacle for many years meeting and making many friends. She would visit inmates and preach the word of God bring them Puerto Rican Food. Petronila was a giving and happy soul. She like helping others, if she saw you liked a ring or bracelet she would get one for you. Health issues forced her to an early retirement. She survived a quadruple bypass and a double amputation. She has been on dialysis for the past 8 years, never complaining about any of her struggles. She developed many friends along the way, some would call her momma. We would like to thank The Dialysis Center and the Ambulance squad.
Pertonila is survived by her children Maria Esther Malave, Virgen Milagros, Ana Lourdes Malave, Luz Galvez, Angel Malave and Hipolito Malave all of New Jersey. Her sister Ada Cruz, her grandchildren David Galvez and Freddie Vega and great-grandchildren Rubi Malave and Latasha Hyman.
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend her viewing Weds. 6:00pm - 7:00pm with Services at 7:00pm at Alfa Omega Tabernacle Pentacostal Church 603 So. Philadelphia Ave. Egg Harbor City, NJ. A prayer service will be held Thursday 10:00am at the Church. Burial Greenmount Cemetery.
