Raymond Myers, affectionately known as "The Godfather," passed away on July 13, 2024, at the age of 72 in Egg Harbor City, NJ.
He was born on April 4, 1952, in Rockaway, NY. Raymond began his colorful career traveling with the carnival, which took him to various places and introduced him to many walks of life. In 1981, he transitioned into the hospitality industry as a bartender at the Playboy Casino. His charisma and skill behind the bar were quickly recognized, and he continued his career at Trump Castle when it opened in 1985, serving as their Day 1 bartender. Raymond continued his bartending career alongside his Golden Nugget family, first at The Deck then at The Chairman Club, for the last 15 years. Raymond made his legendary cocktails, most famously the lemon drop pomegranate martini, for hundreds of guests that became friends. Raymond was known for his flair, impeccable service, and the ability to remember his patrons' favorite drinks and stories. Outside of his professional life, Raymond enjoyed sitting on the boat listening to "The Exceptions" on a Sunday afternoon. He took pleasure in eating a good burger, drinking a cold coca-cola, and a martini (or two). Raymond was an avid collector and an enthusiast of old movies and bloopers, which brought much joy and laughter to his life. His home was a treasure trove of unique finds and memorabilia, each with a story that he loved to share.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Michele Myers; his sister, Eileen Schwan; stepchildren; grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. His family, friends, and all who knew him will remember Raymond for his big smile, smooth personality, and the stories that he shared. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his loved ones and the many lives he touched.
