Rudolph "Rudy" Liberto, age 85 of Blue Anchor, NJ passed away suddenly May 27, 2014. Born and raised in Blue Anchor, NJ, he was a lifelong resident. Along with owning and operating a thriving roadside produce stand, Rudy and his brothers owned Liberto Bros. Farm in Blue Anchor, NJ. -- the family farm started by his Italian grandfather. Rudy went on to become a successful and well-known produce seller, setting up outside the clothing shops in Hammonton and other local spots on the weekends. He was truly an innovator in retailing produce, being one of the first to introduce the "dollar bag" concept where every bag sold for a dollar, no matter what it contained, be it peppers, "cukes" or tomatoes. He also was a successful produce broker, shipping produce to many independent and chain stores throughout the tri-state area and New England. In his later years, he operated his small road stand, Rudy's Produce, in front of his home on Route 73 in Blue Anchor until his death. His customers knew of his generous nature and affable ways and many walked away with extra ears of corn or a free watermelon. They came back year after year and will no doubt miss him.
Aside from his love of all things farming, he enjoyed his many dogs, the racetrack, playing cards and hanging out with the cast of characters at the cigar store in Hammonton. Rudy also proudly served in the U.S. Army.
He is predeceased by his parents Antonio and Erminia Liberto, sister Thelma Parisi and brothers Raymond, Sam and Joseph. Surviving are his estranged wife Dolores ( nee DeSantis ).
