Salvatore A. Velardi, Jr. age 62 of Hammonton, NJ passed away peacefully on March 6, 2018 at AtlantiCare Medical Center in Galloway. Born in Philadelphia, PA he graduated from Hammonton High School in 1973. Sal worked for the Town of Hammonton Wastewater Treatment Plant for 33 years. He was very active in coaching youth sports and loved performing as Elvis. A true, loyal Philadelphia sports fan, Sal watched his beloved Eagles win the Super Bowl. Sal was a member of the Hammonton Lions Club for 33 years. He was King Lion in 1992-1993 & 2014 - 2015, District Governor 2000 - 2001, and State Council Chairman in 2006. He was honored by receiving the Harold Nutter Award, Gene Polgar Fellowship Award and the Melvin Jones Progressive Award, the highest honor from Lions International. He was a member of the Hammonton Board of Education for 18 years. Predeceased by his parents Salvatore, Sr. and Sarah (Romeo). Surviving is his loving wife of 42 years, Kathy (Raffa), daughter Kimberly Zuccarello and her husband Matt and son Michael Velardi and his wife Dana all of Hammonton, NJ. Loving grandfather of Luke Velardi and Rocco Zuccarello. He will be sadly missed by his sisters- in-law Dorothea and Freda Raffa, his nieces, nephew, cousins and friends. Family and friends are invited to attend his church viewing Thursday from 6:00-9:00pm and Friday from 9:30-10:45am all at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish-St. Joseph Church 3rd & French Sts. Hammonton. Mass of Christian Burial Friday 11:00am at the Church. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery 500 N. White Horse Pike, Hammonton.
