Salvatore "Sam" Bombara, Sr. age 93 of Waterford Works, NJ entered heaven joyfully from home on Friday September 13, 2024 with his loving family by his side.
Sam was born on October 22, 1930 and lived in Waterford all his life. He attended Lower Camden County Regional Schools. He faithfully worshipped every Sunday at St. Anthony's Church. He worked for the NJDOT for over 37 years as a heavy equipment operator working mainly out of the Folsom, Deptford and Buena Garages. Sam was a loyal member of the St. Sostine Society and the Wagon Wheel Gun Club.
He is predeceased by his parents Cosimo and Nicolina Bombara, brothers, Carmen and John Bombara (Marie) and sisters Centella Speziali (Frank), Concetta Midure (Austin), Joanne Santora (Rocco) and Josephine Hollingshead.
Beloved husband of his sweetheart Joyce A. Bombara (nee Pajic) and father of John Bombara (Linda) and Salvatore "Sam" Bombara, Jr (Shelley). He will be missed by his five grandsons Salvatore III, Paul, & Anthony Bombara as well as Avery and Logan Franz-Copeland. He will also be missed by many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends that he considered close family.
He had many hobbies. Every spring, he was out in the garden prepping the ground for the growing season. Every summer, he aspired to grow the best Jersey vegetables and can tomatoes so he could have homemade sauce at the Sunday family dinners. He also would catch the best blue claw crabs to eat with his spaghetti and made sure the grass was green and pristine. The fall was wine time. He perfected the art of wine making and shared the best glass of red vino with everyone. Fall mums that he grew would decorate many family houses. The winter brought his favorite time of year, hunting season and the holidays. Hunting for the biggest buck was a passion along with spending time and visiting family and friends during the holidays was a must. We will all miss our time with Dad!
