Sara J. Perna, age 85 of Lake Wylie, SC passed away Wednesday June 5, 2024, in Lake Wylie, SC. Sally was born and raised in Hammonton, NJ. She was a graduate of Hammonton High School class of 1956, Captain of Hammonton High School Color Guard, voted “Prettiest” and crowned “Hammonton Peach Queen”.
Sally later moved with her then husband Vince and young children to Ramsey, NJ where they raised their family. She quickly became entrenched in the community to make it their own. Joining Ramsey Newcomers, the Ramsey Pool and Ramsey’s Brunswick Bowling league where she advanced to the NJ State Amateur Bowlers Tour. Nothing gave her more pride and joy than her family, so she dedicated countless hours to improve every organization her children were involved in, including Ramsey Recreation Football and Cheerleading, Ramsey Baseball and Soccer, the Concession Stand at Finch Park and the Ramsey High School Athletics Booster Club. As involved as she was, she still found a way to be present at every game, concert and award ceremony.
As her children got older, she returned to the workforce, where she used her bookkeeping and management skills at companies such as Hazel Bishop, Lander, the HOA Management company of her Eatontown apartment complex.
Most proud of being a mom and raising independent, loving children, she had a heart of gold. She became ‘second Mom’ by opening her heart and home to many. She loved the Jersey Shore and her annual trips with friends and family. She was an avid sports fan and loved tennis, golf, the Phillies, but most of all her Philadelphia Eagles.
Sara is predeceased by her father John Jacobs Jr., mother Ada Jacobs (nee Matthews), brothers John “Jack” Jacobs, Glenn “Jake” Jacobs, and her former husband and father of her children Vincent J. Perna.
She is survived by her children Timothy J. Perna (Limin Zhang), Susan L. Nachinson (Scott), and Dean J. Perna (Gisella Cosentino). Beloved Granny to 8 grandchildren: Rachel & Jacob Nachinson, Aaron & Collin Perna, Alyssa & Amanda Perna, and Gianluca & Kaila Tartaro. Sister-in-law to Lorraine Jacobs, Ron & Eleanor Perna and Aunt to Jack, Chuck, T.J., Andie, Tracy and Robin.
A Celebration of Life will be held privately by the family.
