Shirley A. Shina

January 20, 1937 — June 13, 2022

Shirley A. Shina, (nee Mascio), age 85, passed away suddenly Monday June 13, 2022 at her home. She was born, raised and a lifetime resident of Hammonton. Graduate of the Hammonton School System, Class of 1954, member of St. Joseph’s Church. Attended Atlantic Community College, Computec, and American Institute of Banking for extended Bank related courses through the years. Had over 35 years of experience in the Banking industry and was part of transition of several mergers and Bank acquisitions. Started her employment in 1954 with Peoples Bank and Trust of Hammonton, which was acquired by Boardwalk National Bank of Atlantic City. Followed by several acquisitions into Wachovia/Wells Fargo Bank. In 1991, retired from First Fidelity Bank as Branch Manager and Bank Executive Officer of the White Horse Pike Office. Previously with the Bellevue Ave Office, where she gained years  of experience in the industry. Received Presidents Award for outstanding sales achievement, numerous Special Achievement awards. Was well regarded and respected in the Banking industry. During her years in Banking, was a trustee of FNB Recreation Association.  Member of National Association of Bank Women Executives, served on Board as Treasurer for the Association. Past  member for seven years and past Treasurer for four years, for the Women’s Civic Club of Hammonton.


Coming out of retirement, she joined Merrill Lynch’s Branch Operations team, was Branch Systems Administrator and rated Far Exceeded Employee. Worked several years as Sales Assistant before her promotion to Merrill Lynch’s District Office in Philadelphia as part of District Management Support Team, before retiring from the company. She enjoyed traveling and yachting with husband, daughters and  friends, jazz and classical music, Broadway shows, investing and research, coin collecting, decorating and creative arts/crafts.  Earlier years, she served as Group Leader for many children in the Blue Bird and Camp Fire Girls Association for several years.


Predeceased by Husband Peter J., Daughter Kelly  A. Shina-Alahyane, sisters Marie Reckner of Lansdale, Pa., Alvera Mascio of Hammonton, brothers Daniel and John Mascio, Parents John Mascio  and Catherine (Mitidieri).


Surviving are her beloved daughter Patricia J. Miller (Jerry), loving Grandchildren Amber Rose and Ryan Tyler Miller, Sister Rita Warren of Berlin, NJ. Son in Law Zak Alahyane of Voorhees, NJ, Beloved Sister-In-law Patricia S. Thomas of Hammonton, numerous Aunts, Uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.                                                  


Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation Friday June 24, 2022 from 10:00 – 11:00am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish St. Joseph Church Third & French Streets Hammonton, NJ. Interment will be private and at the convenience of family.
