Thomas R. Cessato, Sr., age 89 of Hammonton, NJ passed away Monday, March 31, 2025 after a brief illness.
Born in Pleasantville, NJ, Tom graduated from St. Joseph's in Hammonton in 1953. After high school, he was drafted into the US Army, where he served in Korea from 1955-1957 in Field Artillery. After the Army, Tom worked for the family business, Marlene Barber and Beauty Supply with his father and brothers. After the business was dissolved in 1985, he went to work for the Golden Nugget in Atlantic City in Security, and later in Fire Command. Tom was an avid sports fan, cheering on the Philadelphia Eagles and the Los Angeles Dodgers. He enjoyed short trips to Upstate New York, and Lancaster, PA with his wife, Fran, and always had a map ready to go. Tom also enjoyed spending time with his family and his buddies for breakfast at McDonalds.
Tom is predeceased by his father John Cessato, mother Jennie (Callacco) Cessato, wife of 55 years Frances (Lisa) Cessato, his mother-in-law Eleanor (DiLullo) Lisa-Cessato, his brother William (Bill) Cessato, sister-in-law Charlotte (DeMarco) Cessato, and brothers-in-law Carmen Lisa, Hans Lang, and Philip DeMarco.
Tom will be sadly missed by daughter Lisa Chatten and her husband Edward "Joe" Chatten of Galloway, NJ, his son Thomas R. Cessato, Jr. of Galloway, NJ, grandson Kyle Chatten, his wife Jessica (Seney) Chatten, and great-granddaughter Madelyn Chatten of Port Republic, NJ, granddaughter Kelsey Chatten and her husband Craig Orenchuk of Old Bridge, NJ, brother John Cessato and his wife Maryann (Capella) Cessato of Hammonton, NJ, sisters-in-law Sandy Lisa of Waterford, NJ, Santina Lang of Berlin, NJ, and Josephine DeMarco of Hammonton, NJ along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend his viewing Friday, April 4, 2025 from 9:30 - 10:45am at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish - St. Anthony Church 285 Rt. 206 Hammonton, NJ. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00am. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery 248 S. First Road Hammonton, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tom's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
