William J. Lutz (Uncle Bill), age 71, loving uncle and good friend to many
Went home to be with the Lord on Wed. July 18, 2012 at Shore Memorial Hospital. Born and raised in Phila. he attended St. Gabriel's and graduated from Bishop Neuman in 1959. Bill moved to Weymouth, Hamilton Twp., NJ in 1972 and upon his arrival to the area joined the Weymouth Volunteer Fire Company. Bill held various positions including Assistant Chief, Secretary and President during his forty years of active service. He was the current President of WVFC.
Bill worked for Conrail (hence, his love of trains) and retired as a Superintendent of Operations in 1996 after 39 years of service. Bill was proud to be referred to as the leader of the "Purple Tree Gang". He will always be remembered for his quick wit, sick sense of humor and generous heart.
Predeceased by parents Robert & Kathryn Bertele and brother George Lutz.
Uncle Bill leaves behind cherished memories to his nieces and nephew Kathy (Mike) Mochan, Marianne (Tom) Carrigan, Pat (Kurt) Hansen, Margot (Bill) Simons, Jacquie (Ron) Ogle, George Lutz and Kym (John) Peyton. He will be sadly missed by many great nieces and nephews.
Bill touched the lives of many and was truly blessed to have many friends especially John, Marlane and Joe. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Sat. July 28 from 8:00 am - 10:00 am at the Marinella Funeral Home 102 N. 3rd St. Hammonton, NJ. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 am at St. Vincent DePaul Parish 5021 Harding Highway Mays Landing, NJ.
