Obituary of Louis Bertino, Sr.

Louis A. Bertino, Sr. age 90 of Hammonton, passed away Thursday May 17, 2018 at Inspira Medical Center in Vineland. He was born in Riverside NJ, and was a lifelong resident of Hammonton. He graduated from Hammonton High School and  served in Korea in the U.S. Army. In 1961, Lou and his two brothers Frank and Anthony started Bertino Bros. Farms. They formed Diamond Blueberry Co, with their Cousins of Bridge Ave and Variety Farms. He was the back bone of the farm until he semi retired in 1983. He stayed on board running the farms small construction company  clearing and grading land mostly for other farmers where he became known as (Louie Bulldozer) until the farm was sold in the early 2000's. He loved to fly and owned a plane until the late 70's then switched to helicopters. He was also a self taught machinist. He was a loving father and husband and was there for his family no matter what, he would help anyone in need. He was a kind and gentle person.

 

He is predeceased by his wife Marla (nee Tait), son Louis A. “Sonny” Bertino, Jr. and brother Anthony. Lou is survived by his children, Patricia Bertino of Hammonton, Marla Bertino of Mays Landing, Stephen Bertino and his wife Sylvia of Hammonton, his close brother Frank Bertino and sister Antoinette Presti both of Hammonton. Loving grandfather of Amber, Stephen, Jessica Bertino, and Tara Bertino – Niglio.

Family and friends are invited to attend his visitation Thursday May 24, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00pm at the Marinella Funeral Home 102 N. 3rd St. Hammonton. Service will be held at 8:00pm.
